About Dayton Valley

Dayton remains one of the most interesting pockets of Nevada history. The community was originally a trading post and, after the discovery of silver in Virginia City, became one of the Comstock's first mill sites.

Today, Dayton is a quiet but rapidly growing community. The heart of the old town is its historic downtown, which contains many 19th century buildings, including the Odeon Hall, a dance hall and saloon built in the 1870s.

Dayton is located close to the historic old mining town of Virginia City, Nevada's state capitol—Carson City, the "Biggest Little City" Reno and beautiful Lake Tahoe.

The new upscale residential area outside to the east is home to the Dayton Valley Golf Course. The 7,218-yard, par 72 course was designed by Arnold Palmer, and is regarded as one of the state's best.
